Info: One has two ways to program the Digicorder.
Standard programs are stored on punched cards, which the Digicorder reads in seconds.
The IME program library also provides punched cards for your standard calculation tasks.
IME could punch cards for custom programs as well.
You work through the formula once, including all constant values and functions.
The constants are then stored directly in the program, saving memory.
No special programming language is needed.
After a brief introduction, any employee can use it to perform programmed calculations.
What can the Digicorder do?...
The Digicorder can store eight different programs at once, each with 64 steps.
For longer programs, you can combine two or more program sections for a total of up to 512 steps.
You select the desired program by pressing a key.
While a program is running, the Digicorder can make logical decisions at any point.
You can also set up automatic program repetitions (loops).

The main advantages of programmed calculation are:
- Full use of the calculator’s electronic speed
- No need to work out how to set up a formula or find the most efficient way to solve it
- Simple operation: calculations require only one function key (the start key)
- Greater reliability, since operating errors are virtually eliminated
The digicorder can store both functions and constant numbers without using the IME 86s’s own memory during program execution.
The program memory is divided into eight zones, each capable of storing 64 steps.
Eight keys, one for each zone, let the user select the desired program.
Longer programs of up to 512 steps can be stored across multiple zones.
Programs can be entered manually or using punched-tape cards.
Manual programming is done directly through the IME: 86S keyboard.
Each punched-tape card can hold a program of up to 64 steps.
Longer programs can be stored on continuous-loop punched-tape cards, so the cards do not need to be sorted.
Punched-tape cards are also well suited to archiving programs.
The digicorder can make logical decisions.
For example, it can stop a repeating program when a result becomes zero or negative (or positive)
